Schools Teacher compensated after injury initially rejected
Redlich’s Work Injury Lawyers’ recently obtained a substantial pain and suffering settlement for a teacher subjected to abuse while teaching in a special education setting.
Our client wasn’t trained in special needs education, and no training was provided. The teacher sustained injuries from being hit, put in a headlock, headbutted, having desks and chairs thrown at her, being chased, verbally abused and threatened by students.
Our client suffered post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), initially rejected by WorkSafe. We advised her to issue court proceedings.
At the door of court, she was offered a settlement for pain and suffering damages for her serious psychological injury, and ultimately finalised her Common Law Claim and avoided testifying in court.
